LAFAYETTE, La. -
The Nicholls State University women's volleyball team (3-3) extended its winning streak to three games with a 3-1 (25-23, 26-28, 25-16, 25-20) win over Jackson State to start the day, but the Colonels dropped the final match of the tournament to host UL-Lafayette (6-1) by a score of 3-1 (25-23, 10-25, 21-25, 12-25) to fall to 2-1 at the 2010 Ragin' Cajun Invitational.

The Colonels were led by sophomore middle blocker Jessica Addicks and sophomore outside hitter Jennifer Brandt on the day as the duo earned All-Tournament honors.

After hitting a team-best .476 (11-1-21) and a team-high three total blocks (1 block solo, 2 block assists) in a thrilling five-set comeback win over Houston Baptist on Friday, Addicks added nine kills and two block assists against Jackson State and 10 more kills to go with four block assists against ULL.  For the tournament, the Bellaire, Texas native hit a team-best .279 (30-11-68) with a team-high nine total blocks (one block solo, eight block assists).

Meanwhile, one day after recording her first double-double of the season with a team-high 17 kills and 15 digs against HBU, Brandt added a team-leading 16 kills in the Colonels' win over Jackson State and added 12 digs against ULL.  For the tournament, Brandt knocked down a team-best 38 kills for a team-leading 2.92 kill/set average.  The Wallis, Texas native's 33 digs led the Colonels' non-libero players at the tournament.

The Colonels won their third straight match on Saturday morning, outhitting Jackson State .231 (60-24-156) to .178 (53-26-152).  Nicholls overcame 8.0 total blocks by the Tigers thanks to double-digit kill performances from Brandt, sophomore right side hitter Rachel Yezak (13 kills) and freshman middle blocker Kailey McNamara (11 kills).  Addicks added nine kills of her own and junior libero Danielle Daigle tallied 29 digs to keep the Jackson State offense at bay.

Nicholls faced a quick turnaround, returning to the court at 4 p.m. for a tilt with the host Cajuns.  The Colonels jumped out to a fast start, picking up a 25-23 first set victory over once-beaten ULL.  Addicks, who tied freshman outside hitter Lauren Chapman for the team-high with ten kills against the Cajuns, recorded a team-best five kills on eight attempts without an error in set one to help lead the Colonels to the opening set win.

However, that would be all the Colonels would be able to muster against ULL as the Cajuns rallied to win the next three sets by scores of 10-25, 21-25, 12-25 for the 3-1 win.

The Colonels will return to action on Tuesday when they head to Southern to take on the Jaguars.  First serve is set for 7 p.m.
