Colonels Look to Rebound During Season's Longest Homestand

THIBODAUX - The Nicholls State University men's basketball team (7-7, 1-2 Southland Conference) will try to rebound from a two-game losing streak when the Colonels return to Stopher Gym to open up a four-game homestand beginning with a Wednesday night matchup against Central Arkansas.

The Colonels will be returning home for their longest homestand of the season, a stretch of four games that will keep Nicholls in Stopher Gym through the end of January.  After dropping both contests of their first conference road trip, Nicholls hopes a return to their home court will cure what ails them.

The Colonels have won nine consecutive games at home dating back to Feb. 10, 2010.  Nicholls has gone 26-4 at home since the start of the 2008-09 season, an .867 winning percentage.

Nicholls is led by senior forward Anatoly Bose who enters the game ranked ninth in the nation with a 22.9 point/game scoring average.  The Sydney, Australia native will be gunning for his 40th career 20-point game, having racked up a school record 39 contests with 20 or more points to date.

Tipoff between the Colonels and Bears is set for 6:30 p.m. in Stopher Gym.  The game can be heard in the New Orleans-Houma-Thibodaux area on the Colonel Sports Radio Network, including the flagship station for Nicholls athletics, KLRZ 100.3 FM in LaRose and KLEB 1600 AM in Golden Meadow.

Following the contest, the Colonels will continue their homestand against their nearest in-state and Southland Conference rival Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday Feb. 22 at 3:30 p.m. in a Red Out Game at Stopher Gym.
