CONWAY, Ark. -
Four different Colonels scored in double figures, but a quintet of Central Arkansas players turned in double-digit scoring efforts and the Bears' bench outscored the Colonels 46-13 as the Nicholls State University women's basketball team (5-12, 0-4 Southland Conferece) fell at Central Arkansas (11-6, 3-1 Southland Conference) by a final of 91-56 on Wednesday.

Depth proved critical as 11 different UCA players put their names in the scoring column and five different Bears surpassed ten or more points, led by 19 points by Micah Rice.  The Colonels were led by 13 points from freshman forward LiAnn McCarthy who recorded all of Nicholls' bench points.  Senior gaurd Ricshanda Bickham and junior gaurd Sumar Leslie added 12 points each and sophomore forward Alisha Allen added ten, but it wasn't enough to overcome Central Arkansas.

Central Arkansas got off to a strong start, shooting .667 from the field (20-for-30) in the opening half, including shooting 6-for-12 (.500) from three point range en route to taking a  50-16 lead into the break.

After struggling in the first half to the tune of .200 shooting (6-for-30), the Colonels rallied in the second half.  Nicholls shot .457 from the field (16-for-35) in the second frame, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Bears' first half lead as Central Arkansas outscored the Colonels 41-40 en route to the 91-56 win.

The Colonels will return to action on Saturday when they head to Southeastern Louisiana to take on the Lions.
