NACOGDOCHES, Texas -
After dropping a tough 1-0 match to the Sam Houston State Bearkats on Friday, the Nicholls women's soccer team was defeated 6-0 by league-leading Stephen F. Austin Sunday in Texas.

The Ladyjacks (13-2-1, 8-0 SLC) scored five goals in the first 45 minutes, and then scored the final goal of the game in the 80th minute to seal the 6-0 victory over Nicholls (6-10-1, 0-7 SLC).

The Colonels struggled to get anything going offensively, having a season-low five shots in the game, and only one shot on goal coming from Sam Etherington. Nicole Doherty, Missy McGuire, Sarah Tani and Lauren O'Brien were the only other players besides Etherington to get shots off during the match

The Ladyjacks, however, were able to score their six goals on 25 total shots, 12 shots on goal with six assists. All are opponent season highs. Nicholls also allowed their first hat trick of the season, as SFA's Chelsea Raymond scored the final three goals for the Ladyjacks in the 28th, 36th and 80th minute. Raymond also assisted on a goal by Laura Sadler in the 27th minute, as Raymond finished with seven points to lead all players.

Janice Lee scored the first two goals of the match for the Ladyjacks, scoring off of a cross by Christie Hinojosa in the 11th minute, then coming right back in the 13th minute and scoring off of a Melissa Gaudet pass.

Goalie Molly Mersereau allowed all six goals in 80 minutes of action with three saves, while Amanda Boylson saw time in her fifth match this year playing in the last ten minutes, earning three saves of her own. On the flip side, SFA split time with starter Lacey Lee playing 56 minutes with a save, while Morgan Glick preserved the team shutout and faced no shots.

The Colonels will close out the regular season at home next week hosting the Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners on Friday and the Texas State Bobcats on Sunday, which will also serve as Nicholls' senior day.
