Volleyball Opens Week With Tuesday Match Against Lady Lions

THIBODAUX, La. - After dropping two matches over the weekend, the Nicholls State women's volleyball team will open a new week early, traveling to Hammond to face the Southeastern Lady Lions at 7 p.m. in the University Center on Tuesday.

The Colonels (14-6, 1-3 SLC) are coming off a 3-0 loss to the Central Arkansas Sugar Bears last Friday and 3-1 loss to the Northwestern State Lady Demons on Saturday. The Colonels have lost three-straight matches for the first time all year, and have dropped two-straight at home after a 7-0 home record heading into last weekend's matches.

The Colonels will look to break the streak taking on a Lady Lions team that is 4-17 overall and 0-4 in the Southland under new head coach Geno Frugoli. Southeastern is paced by Courtney Donald, Kinsey Williams and Paige Dollison, as each is averaging over two kills per set. Lindsey Young is the primary set-up for most of the Southeastern offense, averaging a shade over seven assists per set.

In order for the Colonels to turn the tide, they will have to force the Lady Lions into more errors than their previous four opponents, as each team has earned 50 or more kills in each match, with the only win coming against McNeese in the first conference match of the season. Led by Jennifer Brandt's 2.48 kills per set, Nicholls will need to get solid production from its front line, while limiting unforced errors and aces to its opponents.
