Doherty was named to the 2011 Southland Conference All-Academic second team on Wednesday.
FRISCO, Texas – Sophomore forward
Nicole Doherty was named today to the Southland Conference All-Academic second team as announced by the league office.
The 5-5, Jacksonville, Fla. native played in all but one of the Colonels' games this year, earning ten starts on the season. She scored one goal on the year, that coming in the first match of the season against Spring Hill College in a 5-0 rout.
Majoring in Psychology, Doherty has maintained a 3.84 grade point average in just two years at Nicholls, and had the fourth highest GPA among the two teams.
“We are very proud of Nicole and her work both in the classroom, and on the field,” head coach
Dylan Harrison said. “She is a classic example of how hard work will pay off in everything you put forth in life.”
This is the first conference award for Doherty, and follows
Kaity Mattsson who earned second team honors on the academic team last year.
