THIBODAUX -
The Nicholls State University (5-3) earned their second walk-off win in three games in game one before cruising to a 13-run victory in game two as the Colonels stretched their win streak to four and completed a three-game sweep of St. Peters (3-4) by taking both games of a double with the Peacocks on Saturday.

The Colonels found themselves in a pitchers' duel in game one against the Peacocks as Nicholls starter Patrick Shreve limited the Peacocks to just three runs (two earned) on four hits while striking out six and walking one.  Unfortunately, for Nicholls, the Peacocks did all their damage early scoring once each in the first, third and fifth innings.  And while the Colonels chased St. Peter's starter Zachary Ives after plating a run in the third and drawing a one-out walk in the fourth.  However, Nicholls couldn't break through against his replacement, Zachary Hopf, early on as the Peacock reliever turned the Colonels away in four of his 5.1 innings of relief.

After three innings of play, the Colonels trailed 2-1, but St. Peter's reclaimed a two-run lead in the fifth when an RBI single by Peacock center fielder Matt Mancini made it 3-1.  Nicholls answered in the home half of the sixth as the Colonels strung together two hits and took advantage of a pair of Peacock errors to score a pair of runs.  An RBI groundout by sophomore catcher Cody Dufrene and a two-out RBI single by senior outfielder Kasey Culverson tied things up at 3-3 after 6.0 innings.

Shreve settled in and turned the Peacocks away scoreless in the seventh and eighth before turning things over to junior reliever Michael Baxter, who delivered 1.0 scoreless inning of relief in the ninth, to set the stage for the Colonels in the home half of the ninth.

Looking to avoid extra innings, Culverson delivered a one-out double to put himself in scoring position.  Senior shortstop Chase Jaramillo followed by lacing a single into right center field to bring home Culverson and give Nicholls the 4-3 win.

There was no need for such dramatics in game two as Nicholls racked up 14 hits en route to a 15-2 win.  The Colonels plated one run each in the first and third before exploding for an eight-run inning in the bottom of the fourth.  Nicholls sent 12 men to the plate in the inning.  Senior catcher Jason Dennis, who started the inning with a leadoff double, delivered the biggest blow later in the frame with his second two-bagger, driving in a pair of runs this time.  The Colonels would add five more in the bottom of the seventh to cap off their 15-run performance.

Meanwhile, the Nicholls pitching staff kept the Peacocks handcuffed all game long.  Four Nicholls pitchers combined to limit St. Peter's to two runs on ten hits while striking out eight and walking just five.  Senior right hander Brian Arceneaux earned the win in his second start of the season, working 6.0 IP before turning things over to Jeremy Hill, Connor Thurmann and Donnie White to close it out.
