Sumana Kalyanasundaram picked up a point for the Colonels on Sunday
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Nicholls State University women's tennis team finished their Southland weekend Texas road-trip on Sunday against Stephen F. Austin and came up short as they were defeated 6-1 at the Schlief Tennis Complex.
The Colonels (4-3, 0-3 SLC), still looking for their first conference win, lost the doubles point as SFA won all three matches. The No.1 duo of

Natalia Zamora fell 8-6 and at the No. 2 spot,
Sumana Kalyanasundaram/
Marina Ljoshevska lost 8-5. The Ladyjacks won the No. 3 match due to forfeit.
In singles play, Kalyanasundaram picked up the lone point for the Colonels at the No. 4 spot with a 6-0, 1-6, 6-3 victory. However, SFA (11-1, 3-1 SLC) would dominate the rest of singles action, winning the other four matches in straight sets. Nosca fell in the No. 1 spot 6-2, 6-3; Zamora lost 7-5, 6-3 in No. 2;
Tatiana Denezhkina was knocked off 6-3, 6-2 at the third position and Ljoshevska fell 6-0, 6-2 in the No. 5 match.
The women's team will return to action on Wednesday, March 16 at the Colonel Tennis Complex when they host Cleveland State. First serve is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
