THIBODAUX – The Nicholls State University women's team hosted the No. 62 University of Texas at Arlington on Sunday afternoon at the Colonel Tennis Complex and was defeated by the score of 7-0 as UTA clinched the Southland Conference regular season title with the victory.

UTA (17-4, 11-0 SLC) proved to be too strong as the Mavericks dominated doubles play while winning each singles match in straight sets.

Although losing both matches this weekend, Nicholls (10-11, 3-7 SLC) is still currently in eighth place in the conference standing with its final match scheduled on Thursday against Texas-San Antonio. The teams will meet in Beaumont, Texas for an 11 a.m. first serve.
