Nicholls Falls in Three against New Mexico State

Final Stats LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Junior middle blocker Jessica Addicks tallied nine kills and finished with a .412 hitting percentage but it wouldn't be enough as the Nicholls State University women's volleyball team was defeated 3-0 (18-25, 18-25, 15-25) against New Mexico State University on Sunday evening.

The Colonels (1-3) led early in both the second and third sets, but New Mexico State (2-1) used late runs in the final two games to take the match in straight sets. After winning the opening set 25-18, the Aggies close out game two with a 7-2 run to win 25-18, and in game three, the Colonels pulled within three at 18-15 before NMSU ended the match by scoring the next seven points.

Along with Addicks, Jennifer Brandt added five kills while juniors Jasmine Harris, Sarah Terry and senior Rachel Yezak had four each. Junior Nicole Lund led the way for the Colonels with 13 assists.

On defense, freshman Jeanne Logarbo registered 13 digs while Harris finished with four blocks (one solo).

Nicholls hit .034 (26-23-89) on the evening, while the Aggies ended with a .283 (39-13-92) mark. Meredith Hays led NMSU with a match-high 16 kills.

Nicholls will have the week of before heading to Lafayette, La., for The Bon Temps Invitational next weekend. The Colonels open up play on Friday against Mississippi Valley State at 4 p.m.
