The Colonels had their five-game winning streak snapped with a 2-1 loss to Central Arkansas Friday.

CONWAY, Ark. – For nearly a third of the game, the Nicholls State women's soccer team and Central Arkansas did not give an inch, but in the 62nd and 84th minute Vanessa Randall and Kristin Pollard scored their first goals of the season to give UCA a two goal cushion Nicholls couldn't overcome, falling to UCA 2-1 Friday in Conway.
The Sugar Bears (5-4-1, 1-0 SLC) snapped the Colonels (6-4-1, 0-1 SLC) program-best five-game winning streak and are still winless against UCA all-time, falling to 0-5-1.
The Colonels and Sugar Bears played to a scoreless tie after the first 45 minutes of play, where there were only a combined five shots in the period and one shot on goal.
Kandice Champagne got off the first two shots in the fourth and 18th minute of the first half, with Claire Pitt getting the third shot for Nicholls in the 35th minute.
UCA only got off two shots during the first 45 minutes, a Cassie Lange shot that was blocked, and a Corey Rossi attempt in the 17th minute that goalie
Molly Mersereau earned the save on.
From the opening of the second period, the Sugar Bears went on the offensive, firing off nine shots in the period, scoring both of their goals after the 60th minute of play, nearly 20 minutes apart. Missy McGuire's goal came in the 86th minute for the Colonels to make the score 2-1, but didn't allow enough time for a Colonels comeback.
The Colonels now head to Natchitoches to face the Northwestern State Lady Demons Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.
