Southland TV Network to Carry Colonels vs. Lumberjacks

FRISCO, Texas – Stephen F. Austin will welcome Nicholls to Homer Bryce Stadium in Nacogdoches Saturday in the Toyota Game of the Week on the Southland Conference Television Network. Coverage of the game begins at 3 p.m., CT, with kickoff scheduled for 3:05 p.m., CT.

The Colonels come into the game looking for their first conference win of the season after losses to Central Arkansas and Sam Houston State. Nicholls is 1-4 overall with a win Sept. 22 against Evangel to go with non-conference losses against South Alabama and Tulsa. Quarterback Landry Klann has completed 69 of 122 passes for 999 yards and five touchdowns. Marcus Washington leads the team with 277 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 41 carries. Jesse Turner has caught a team-high 15 passes for 215 yards and one score. The Colonels average 21.2 points and 372.8 yards per game, getting a bulk of those yards (222.4) through the air. Despite giving up 33.4 points and 433.4 yards per game, the defense features the conference's top tackler. Linebacker Jordan Piper has 54 tackles and his 10.75 per game ranks 15th nationally. He is averaging 14.0 tackles in two conference games. He had 23 tackles at Central Arkansas.

Stephen F. Austin did not play last week, but comes into the game with hopes of erasing the sting of a loss to rival Sam Houston State Oct. 6 at Reliant Stadium in Houston. The Lumberjacks, at 1-1 in league play, is one of three conference teams trying to keep pace with Southeastern Louisiana, which has yet to lose in its three Southland games this season. SFA is 2-4 overall and has wins over Central Arkansas and Southwestern Oklahoma State to go with non-conference losses to SMU, Montana State and Texas State. SFA quarterback Brady Attaway, who threw for 545 yards and six touchdowns against the Bearkats, easily leads his conference counterparts with 363.7 passing yards per game. He has completed 178 of 312 passes for 2,182 yards and 17 touchdowns. His primary target is Cordell Roberson who is the league's top receiver, averaging 10.3 receptions and 134.3 yards per game. He has 62 catches for 806 yards and eight touchdowns. He now has 206 career catches and is one of four Southland players to reach 200 receptions in a career. SFA is averaging 34.3 points and 496.7 yards on offense.

Nicholls and Stephen F. Austin are meeting Saturday for the 29th time. The Lumberjacks hold a 21-7 lead in the series after winning 57-21 last year to extend their win streak to four games. The last Nicholls win in the series came in 2007 when it won 17-16 in Nacogdoches.

Randy McIlvoy, the sports director at KPRC-TV in Houston, will handle play-by-play duties and will be joined in the booth by color analyst Shea Walker, a former Texas A&M receiver and veteran broadcaster for the last 18 years. Brooke Bentley, who co-hosts the SportsZone on Southland TV Network Houston affiliate KUBE, will serve as the sideline reporter.

The Southland TV Network became a reality in 2008 and has broadcast more than 100 events. The network earned a College Sports Media Award in 2009-10 for best live/game event in the collegiate division, following that up with an honorable mention in the professional division (2010-11) and a nomination in the collegiate division (2011-12). Plus, the network has captured five Telly awards.

The network reaches the Little Rock-Pine Bluff, Arkansas, market on KARZ (42.1). Viewers in Oklahoma City and Tulsa can find the game on Oklahoma's Cox Channel (3/703). Delayed airings include Comcast SportsNet Houston Sunday at 8 a.m., Central. Cox Sports Television, which is available to more than two million viewers in nine states, will carry the broadcast Monday at 7 p.m., Central.

Nationally, the game will air on a tape-delayed basis on Fox College Sports Central, Sunday at 5 p.m., Central.
