THIBODAUX, La. – Coming off a split in its opening weekend, the Nicholls State University women's basketball team will make the short trek to New Orleans to take on the UNO Privateers on Tuesday, Nov. 13. Tipoff at Lakefront Arena against the future Southland foe is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The game will be broadcast on KNSU 91.5 FM, with pregame coverage starting at 6:45 p.m. For listeners out of region, the game can be heard on

Nicholls (1-1) returned home from Chicago with its first win, defeating Mississippi Valley State 60-57 to claim third-place in the Maggie Dixon Invitational. In the win,
KK Babin led the way with 13 points, eight rebounds and eight assists en route to being named to the all-tournament team. Babin also received honorable mention for conference player of the week on Monday.
Returning starters
Alisha Allen and
Jenny Nash also had strong outings for the Colonels, averaging 12 and 11.5 points per game, respectively. Nash matched Babin with five 3-pointers in the two games, while Allen blocked three shots in the win against the Devilettes.
For the newcomers, transfers
Jasmine Scott and
Kishaun Williams provided sparks off the bench, scoring 11 points each over the weekend. Scott played a key role in Saturday's win, scoring two baskets down the stretch and finished with seven rebounds – with five coming off the offensive glass. Freshman
Emani White also chipped in, logging 33 minutes with a 3-pointer, three rebounds and two assists.
UNO (0-1), which will be joining the Southland in 2013-14, has had the upper hand in the all-time series, holding a 22-12 record against the Colonels. Although the Privateers head into the game with a four-game winning streak in the series - winning the last meeting 60-50 in 2009 - the Privateers have lost their last 29 games, dating back to the beginning of 2011. UNO almost snapped the drought in its season opener against Northwestern State, but were edged 53-52.
In the loss, Mechel'le and Keri Thomas teamed up for 24 points, led by Meche'le's 13. As a team, UNO shot 41.7 percent, which is slightly better than the Colonels after two games, who are shooting at a 36.8 clip.
Following Tuesday's game, the Colonels will make their 2012-13 home debut when they host ULM on Friday night. Tipoff at Stopher Gym is scheduled for 6 p.m.
