Seeding Up For Grabs In Season Finale Against Lady Lions

THIBODAUX, La. – With a week of no action, the Nicholls State University women's volleyball team closes out the 2012 regular season with much at state, taking on the Southeastern Louisiana Lady Lions Saturday afternoon in Hammond.

With matching 5-12 records in Southland Conference action, Saturday's battle will be for the seventh seed in next week's conference tournament at Central Arkansas. Who either team will play is also still up for grabs, as although the tournament field is set the 1-6 seeds won't be finalized until the final match Saturday night.

Nicholls came off of a tough weekend falling to both Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Sam Houston State in straight sets last Thursday and Saturday, but finally earned its week off leading into the showdown with the Lady Lions.

The Colonels are on a five-match winning streak against Southeastern dating back to 2010 and has not lost since 2009. Nicholls won the first meeting between the two teams in early October with a clean sweep as the team hit .333, and will look to get its third consecutive victory in Hammond where the Colonels are 13-19 all-time at the University Center.

Southeastern Louisiana is coming off of a three-set win over Texas Southern on Thursday night, and improved its record to 11-17 overall on the season. The Lady Lions are led by senior middle blocker Courtney Donald, who will end her career in the coming weeks as one of the more prolific hitters in Southeastern history. Donald is hitting a Southeastern-record .333 on the season with 380 kills and 88 blocks this season.
