Nicholls will be looking to record its 8th win of the season
THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University women's basketball team will look to close out the calendar year on a winning note as the Colonels take on Texas Southern on Saturday, Dec. 29.
The game will be broadcast on the Colonel Sports Radio Network on KNSU 91.5 FM, with pregame coverage set to start at 6:45 p.m. The broadcast is also available on Colonels All-Access.
Nicholls (7-3) had its two-game winning streak snapped with a loss at Arkansas State in its last outing, despite a career-high 14 points from freshman
Emani White. While the Colonels were efficient from the free throw line (13-of-17), the Colonels' 3-point shooting woes continues as Nicholls connected on only 5-of-23. Over the last three games, the Colonels are shooting only 25 percent (15-of-60).
On the year, senior
Alisha Allen leads the Colonels in scoring at 13.8 points per game, followed closely by junior
KK Babin (12.6). Junior
Jasmine Scott has been the team's best rebounder, hauling in 6.1 per outing.
Texas Southern (3-7) will be aiming for its second straight home win after defeating Missouri-Kansas City in its home opener, 64-53. The Lady Tigers played their first nine games on the road which included games against Arizona, Arkansas and Oklahoma State.
TSU is averaging only 54.2 points per game and give up over 64 points. The Lady Tigers have only one player scoring in double figures, Gianne Fleming, who is averaging 11.8 points per game. Fleming had 13 points in the Lady Tiger's 69-48 loss to Nicholls last season.
