Dmitry Kozionov picked up the lone victories for the Colonels against UCF
ORLANDO, Fla. – The Nicholls State University men's tennis team took on Central Florida on Saturday evening and junior
Dmitry Kozionov was the lone Colonel to earn a point as Nicholls fell 6-1 to the Knights at the UCF Tennis Complex.
Nicholls falls to 6-7 on the year, while UCF improves to 7-9.
The Knights took a one-point lead after doubles play, sweeping the three matches. However, the Colonels did not go down without a fight as Kozionov/
Shayann Vaezzadeh fell in the No. match, 8-7, while Damjan Despotovski/
Roy Knight lost in extra points at No. 3, 9-7.
After an hour and 30 minute rain delay, the singles competition started and the Knights claimed all five of their singles points in straight sets. In the No. 2 match, Kozionov was able to defeat Erik Brunskog 6-4, 6-3 to avoid the shutout for the Colonels.
Nicholls will wrap up its Florida road trip with a match against Jacksonville University on Sunday. First serve is scheduled for 10 a.m.
