NEW ORLEANS – Junior
Dmitry Kozionov captured his 38th career win in singles for the Nicholls State University men's tennis team, but Tulane proved to be too strong as the Green Wave defeated the Colonels, 6-1, at the Goldring Tennis Center on Tuesday evening.
Kozionov, who was named Southland Conference Player of the Week on Tuesday for the third time this season, gave the Colonels (7-8) their only point by defeating Joe Young in the No. 2 match. After winning in extra points in the first set, 7-6 (10-8), Kozionov went on to claim the match with a 6-2 win in the second set.
Tulane (8-5), who had lost three straight, won the other five singles bouts in straight sets. The Green Wave also took the first two doubles matches to earn the point before Damjan Despotovski and
Sidharth Sivakumar knocked off Adam Bernstein/Coby Kramer Golinkoff 8-5 in the No. 3 match.
