THIBODAUX, La. – Coming off of their first series win of the year, the Nicholls baseball team will travel to Mobile to face the South Alabama Jaguars Wednesday night at Stanky Field in Alabama. Nicholls dropped the first game last weekend to ULM, but held off Warhawk rallies on consecutive nights to win the series 2-1. 
 
The Opening Pitch
Nicholls evened its record to 6-6 after winning two games at ULM this weekend… Philip Lyons is on a season-high seven game hitting streak, and has reached base safely in the last nine games which is also a season high… Lyons finished last week with 11 hits, five RBI's and seven runs scored as the Colonels finished 4-1 on the week… Jeremy Hill hit his first home run of the year and second of his career on Saturday with a three-run bomb... Nicholls is on its second two-game win streak of the year.

Nicholls/South Alabama Series Notes
South Alabama is 30-12 against Nicholls all-time, as the two split a pair of games last year… South Alabama is 20-9 at home against the Colonels in Mobile, and have won three of the last four meetings at Stanky Field since 2008.

The Jaguars were picked to finish sixth in the Sun Belt Conference… Logan Kirkland was the only player from South Alabama named to the all-SBC preseason list… USA has 23 newcomers on the 2012 squad… Entering this week's contests, the Jaguars have not hit a home run in 370 at bats… South Alabama is 0-4 in one-run games and 0-4 in games where they give up six or more runs.
