THIBODAUX, La. – After pulling out a win in the finale against Texas State on Sunday, the Nicholls baseball team returns to the diamond on Wednesday hosting the Alcorn State Braves in a game that was postponed due to weather two weeks ago. With a win the Colonels can return to .500 in the record books ahead of a big Southland Conference weekend series with UTSA this weekend on the road.
 
The Opening Pitch
The Colonels are coming off of a crucial series finale victory over Lamar on Sunday... Nicholls is two games out of the eighth spot with nine games left to play, including playing the team behind them this weekend in UTSA in San Antonio, and two of the teams ahead of them in the standings in Northwestern State next weekend at home before ending the season on the road against Stephen F. Austin... The Colonels pounded out 12 hits against Texas State on Sunday, and is 14-3 when having double-digit hits in a contest... Jeremy Hill has reached base in 18 straight games, the longest for any Colonel this season... Blake Bergeron had his second seven-game hitting streak of the season snapped over the weekend, while Beau Faulk is on his second seven-game drive of the year, as both tie their season-long total.

Nicholls/Alcorn State Series Notes
The Colonels have never lost to the Braves and is 21-0 versus Alcorn State in all-time meetings... Nicholls defeated the Braves 9-2 earlier this year and in the last two meetings have outscored Alcorn State 23-3.

The Braves are 15-30 on the year… Alcorn State is coming off of a series sweep against Alabama A&M this past weekend, riding a four-game win streak...
