Nicholls Takes On No. 4 LSU Tuesday

THIBODAUX, La. – After earning a split in a Sunday doubleheader to take the series over Northwestern State, the Nicholls baseball team begins the last week of the regular season in Baton Rouge taking on the LSU Tigers Tuesday night. The Colonels lost both games to the Tigers last season and last defeated the Tigers in 2009.
 
The Opening Pitch
The Colonels are coming off of their first conference series win since defeating Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 2-1 in late March... Jeremy Hill was named the LSWA Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, finishing last week hitting .444 with eight hits, five RBI and six runs scored...  Hill is on the second 12-game hitting streak of the season, tying the career high he set two-weeks ago, and the longest on the team this season.. The Colonels finished with 24 hits on Sunday alone, improving to 15-4 when outhitting an opponent... LSU is the fourth nationally-ranked team the Colonels will face this year after playing Southern Miss, Stony Brook and Sam Houston State this year and is 2-6 in those contests.

Nicholls/LSU Series Notes
LSU holds a 48-23 advantage in all-time meetings between the two teams... The Tigers won both games last year in a home-and-home series, scoring 12 runs in each game... Nicholls defeated the Tigers 3-1 in 2009 when the Tigers were ranked No. 1 in the country at the time, before going on to win the national championship that season... LSU has won 11 of the last 12 meetings against the Colonels... In the last nine seasons, LSU has only won by double-digit runs in two contests, with six games having the Colonels fall by five runs or less.
