Colonels Baseball Closes Season Series with Jackson State Wednesday

THIBODAUX, La. – Splitting their series with UTSA over the weekend, the Colonels baseball team heads to Jackson, Miss., to face the Jackson State Tigers Wednesday night in the finale of their in-season series with the SWAC leaders. This will be the second-to-last non-conference game of the year for Nicholls, as the Colonels are 13-7 in non-con matchups this year and 10-1 in midweek games.
 
The Opening Pitch
The Colonels are coming off of a split with the UTSA Roadrunners after the series finale was cancelled due to field conditions... The Colonels are now a game-and-a-half back out of the eighth spot with just six Southland games left in the season... Jeremy Hill is on an eight-game hitting streak, followed by Matt Richard who has a six-game one with three other Colonels on five-game streaks... Hill has also reached base safely in 21 straight games, upping his batting average to .376 which is third in the conference, followed by Philip Lyons who is fifth with a .354 average... Nicholls had its ninth double-digit scoring game of the season against the Roadrunners on Saturday, undefeated when scoring ten or more runs... Michael LeGrange hit his second home run of the year on Saturday, and the Colonels are 7-3 when hitting a home run in a game.

Nicholls/Jackson State Series Notes
The Colonels hold a 28-13-1 advantage in all-time meetings with the Tigers... This is only the second meeting between the two schools since 1995... The Colonels defeated the Tigers 6-0 earlier in the season at home, outscoring Jackson State 31-12 in their last three meetings.
