Parija Maloo were named All-Louisiana by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association, as the organization announced its all-state tennis teams on Sunday.
Maloo, a junior from Pune, India, was named first-team and newcomer of the year after finishing her inaugural season with a remarkable 18-3 record in singles. Maloo played all 21 matches at the No. 1 position, posting the best overall record in the top flight in the Southland Conference. Despite playing at No. 1, she only needed to go three sets in two of her 18 victories.
Against schools in the Pelican State, Maloo went undefeated, posting a perfect 8-0 mark.
She also played all 19 of her doubles matches at No. 1, pairing up with
Janna Leeuwerik for a 15-4 record.
Aubert, a native of France, was named second-team after claiming a 17-4 record in singles as a freshman, playing primarily at the No. 2 position. In conference play, she compiled a 9-2 mark and had the second highest winning percentage in the No. 2 flight after finishing 5-1 (.833).
In addition to winning 12 straight matches, 14 of Aubert's victories came in straight sets, including all six of her wins against schools in Louisiana en route to a 6-2 record. In doubles action, she won nine matches, with four coming in Southland play.
