Brandom accounted for six points in the win over Alcorn State with two goals and two assists

Janelle Brandom, the Nicholls State University women's soccer team defeated the Alcorn State Lady Braves 4-1 Sunday afternoon in Mississippi.
Brandom, which has scored in her last three matches she's played in, had a hand in all four Nicholls goals on the day scoring the first and final goal of the match to vault into a tie for the team lead with four, while assisting on the other two improve her assists total to three.
With the win, Nicholls (5-5) has set a program record for most wins on the road, picking up its fourth win away from Thibodaux this season.
The Colonels (5-5) scored nearly two minutes into the match, as
Spencer Valdespino picked up her fourth assist of the season on a cross to Brandom from the right side that she fired in to give Nicholls the 1-0 lead.
Brandom followed that up with an assist to
Alexandra Marino, who finished from the right side of the box to score a goal on her birthday.
Alcorn pulled within one with a ball over the top to make the score 2-1 heading into the half.
About 40 seconds into the final half of play, a header from
Nicole Doherty on a Brandom corner kick found the back of the net to put the Colonels up 3-1.
The final goal came from an assist by Marino, who returned the favor by finding a streaking Brandom from the right side to score at the back post, giving the Colonels the 4-1 lead they would hold on to for the remainder of the contest.
Nicholls opens up Southland Conference play on the road next weekend, heading to face Sam Houston State and Lamar.
