With only one tie coming with the score 6-6, Nicholls held serve until reaching the 17-15 mark when the Islanders rattled off three straight points to take an 18-17 lead. The next 13 points would be a see-saw battle for control until starter Brooke Hopper got injured for Nicholls and exited the game with a knee injury and didn't return. Corpus Christi went on to win the set 25-23 after breaking the final tie of the set.

The second was even tougher for the Colonels as the Islanders scored four consecutive points with the score tied 5-5 to go up 9-5 forcing a Nicholls timeout. The closest the Colonels would get to Corpus Christi for the rest of the set was two points, as the Islanders went on to win the set by nine after scoring the final four points in order to go up 25-16 and into the intermission up 2-0.

Nicholls put up a much tougher challenge for Corpus Christi in the final set, fighting back after falling behind 13-9 to win three of the next six points to cut the lead to 16-13. After a timeout, The Colonels got one more point before Corpus Christi got the next five to go up 21-14 prompting another Nicholls rally to make the score 21-17.  Although Nicholls clawed within three points of the Islanders with the score 23-20, the Colonels would only get one more point and end the game on a service error to fall 25-21.

The Nicholls women's volleyball team will return to action on Saturday afternoon against the Sam Houston State Bearkats at 2 p.m. in Stopher Gym.
