THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University women's basketball team will meet Oral Roberts for the second time this season as the Colonels hit the midway point of their conference schedule, taking on the Golden Eagles Thursday at the Mabee Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.

Nicholls (12-7, 4-4) and Oral Roberts (8-10, 4-4) are both coming off tough losses at home on Saturday. The Colonels went toe-to-toe with first-place Sam Houston, but the Bearkats were relentless on the boards, grabbing 15 offensive rebounds in their 70-63 victory. ORU was also burned by second-chance points against McNeese, losing a one-point lead in the waning seconds on a putback by the Cowgirls.

The matchup features the league's top two point guards – Nicholls' KK Babin and ORU's Jaci Bingham. Babin, who led Nicholls with 17 points against Sam Houston, is second in the conference in assists, averaging 5.2 per game. Along with directing the Colonel offense which is averaging 65.7 points per game, Babin is second on the squad in scoring with 12.4 ppg, trailing only Alisha Allen (15.2).

Bingham has been among the leaders in the nation in assists all season, currently ranking eighth in the NCAA. Like Babin, Bingham is averaging double figures in scoring (11.3) and is the Golden Eagles' second-leading scorer. Kevi Luper heads ORU with 17.4 ppg, which is fourth in the Southland.

Nicholls and ORU met for the first time in program history on Jan. 5 in the opening weekend of conference play, with the Colonels escaping with a 69-66 win in Thibodaux. The Golden Eagles led by one in the final minute of the game, but Allen gave the Colonels the lead after making a jumper with nine seconds remaining. Allen played all 40 minutes and led the Colonels with a team-high 18 points.

Following Thursday's game, Nicholls will head to Conway to face Central Arkansas. Gametime is scheduled for 2 p.m.
