COLLEGE STATION, Texas  –  The Nicholls State University women's basketball team was held to a season-low 23 percent shooting and No. 20 Texas A&M led by double digits for almost the entire game as the Aggies claimed a 73-39 victory over the Colonels on Tuesday afternoon at Reed Arena.

Nicholls, which slips to 4-4 on the year, was led by Emani White with 14 points. Marina Lilly added 11 points and eight rebounds and Jasmine Scott finished with 10 points and three assists.

Texas A&M (7-3) received a 14-point effort from Courtney Williams as the Aggies shot 49 percent from the floor and pounded the Colonels on the glass, holding a 47-31 advantage.

The Colonels made only 13 field goals for the game and were limited to just a pair of 3-pointers. Nicholls headed into the game averaging nearly nine made 3-pointer per game but finished 2 of 12 – with both makes coming from White.

After tying the game at 2-2, the Colonels quickly found themselves down by double figures as the Aggies reeled off 10 consecutive points. Texas A&M got the bulk of their points on layups and putbacks, but a 3-pointer by Walker gave TAMU a 27-8 lead half way through the period. Nicholls trailed by as much as 24 before going into the locker room down 40-19.

The second half was much of the same as the Aggies slowly built its lead to 30 points midway through. The Colonels were unable to put together any kind of run as they fell to a ranked opponent for the second time this season.

Nicholls will take part in the Hatters Classic in Deland, Fla. this weekend, starting on Friday against Bethune-Cookman. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. with a live broadcast available on KNSU 91.5 FM.
