Junior Damian Despotovski won the No.1 singles match against Kennesaw State
MARIETTA, Ga. – The Nicholls State University men's tennis team put together its second straight impressive outing, blanking Kennesaw State 7-0 at the Fair Oaks Tennis Center on Saturday.
“It's good to finally come away with the doubles point, something we have not done this season and we did this very convincingly against a good team,” said Nicholls tennis head coach
Meenakshi Sundaram. “It's great to see my singles line up getting stronger with every match and to have a good group of freshmen supporting my seniors as well.”
Nicholls (5-3) swept the doubles matches for the point, with its closest outcome coming in the No. 1 position. At No. 2 and No. 3, the duos of

Roy Knight breezed through for 8-2 wins, respectively, before
Dmitry Kozionov/
Sidharth Sivakumar picked up an 8-5 win in the top flight.
In singles, the Colonels were just as dominant surrendering only one game in the entire lineup. Karatzas picked up here he left off from the last match, earning a 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Maksim Yorsh.
Jeoffrey Noblecourt then gave Nicholls a 3-0 lead with a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 6.
Kozionov clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 2, followed by a 6-2, 6-3 win by Mertens. In the top pairing,
Damian Despotovski took down Tobi Menhofer 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 and
Roy Knight completed the sweep at No. 4 with a 6-2, 5-7, 1-0 (10-8) victory.
The Colonels will wrap up their Georgia trip on Sunday against Georgia State.
