MONROE, La. – The Nicholls State University women's tennis team dropped its second straight decision as the Colonels came up empty against Louisiana-Monroe, 7-0, Friday afternoon at Heard Stadium.

The shutout was the second of the season for Nicholls (9-5), with the other coming against LSU. Nicholls had won four in a row before losing its last two. Louisiana-Monroe improves to 7-1 on the year and is 4-0 versus teams from the Southland Conference.

The Warhawks faced little resistance in the match, winning the completed doubles matches 8-2 and 8-1 before going on to claim five straight set victories in singles. Marie Aubert was the only Colonel to win a set on the day, defeating Sophie Rufyikiri 6-3 to open the No. 1 match. Aubert then lost the second set 6-4 before being defeated in the tiebreaker 10-4.

Nicholls will begin a four-match homestand on March 16, taking on Lamar in a Southland Conference match. The Colonels are currently undefeated in the Southland, holding a 2-0 record. First serve against LU is scheduled for 11 a.m.
