The men's tennis team visited the students at Evergreen Junior High
THIBODAUX, La. – With the Nicholls men's tennis team's 2013 season now in the books, five members of the squad took some time to visit with students at Evergreen Junior High in Houma.
The five players from the 2013 team who visited the students were
Guillermo Collado,
Evan Karatzas,
Jeoffrey Noblecourt,
Nico Mertens and
Sidharth Sivakumar. With each of the Colonels growing up in a different country, the students at Evergreen had tons of questions for the players about where they were from and their lives in their own countries.
A few of the stories that were shared included Karatzas, a native of Australia, being honked at one morning by a motorist as was by habit driving of the left side of the road. Sivakumar and Collado talked to the kids about how a matador works in Spain which resulted in the children cheering “olé, olé.”
Not only did the students learn something about other countries and cultures, but the Colonels also had a unique experience since they were able to see the school system in the United States and how it compares to their own.
