Colonel Football Bids Farewell to Miss Amelie
THIBODAUX, La. – Coaches of the Nicholls football program as well as members of the athletic department held a surprise retirement party for long-time administrative assistant Amelie Talbot on Wednesday, July 3.
Talbot, who has worked for eight of the football program's nine coaches, will retire later this month after 33 years of service.
“I've always enjoyed my time here at Nicholls. I've seen so many players come and go, and also so many changes throughout the years, it's very bitter sweet,” Talbot said. “This is all I've ever really known. Even my daughter grew up watching football here and graduated from Nicholls. I'm just very thankful for all the wonderful people who I've shared this time with. “
In addition to the farewell party, head coach Charlie Stubbs and his staff surprised “Miss Am” with a fitting retirement gift - a rocking chair.
“The chair was such a perfect gift. Mainly because it will get a lot of use as I'm expecting my first grandchild,” Talbot said.
