Colonels Hit the Road to Face Central Arkansas

CONWAY, Ark. The Nicholls State University women's volleyball team will make the arduous drive to Conway for a matchup against the University of Central Arkansas at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
 
The Colonels (7-11, 3-2 SLC) are coming off a 3-1 victory over the University of New Orleans on Tuesday. With the win, Nicholls has now earned more Southland Conference victories than they did all last season. The Colonels also have two more total victories than all of last year.
 
The Sugar Bears (11-7, 6-0 SLC) are on a six-game win-streak and have won 18 sets while only losing four during that stretch. They are coming off of a 3-1 defeat of McNeese State University on Thursday.
 
Kaci Eaton leads Nicholls with 259 kills and is second on the squad in digs with 172. Eaton is first conference and second in the nation in attacks per set. Kalynn Egea leads the conference in digs with 363 this season. She is first in the Southland and fourth in the nation in digs per set. Ainsley Marroccoli leads the Colonels with 385 assists while Alyse Barclay has 244. Emily Weimer has a team-high 43 blocks.
 
Heather Schnars and Evie Singleton lead the Sugar Bears with 266 and 213 kills respectively. Shelbee Berringer has a team-leading 391 digs and Megan Nash leads the squad with 47 blocks. Amy South and Kristine Hjembo have 419 and 300 assists this season.
 
The Colonels take on the Sugar Bears Saturday before making the trip to Lake Charles for a battle with McNeese State at 2 p.m. on Oct. 18.
