Colonels Host Stephen F. Austin for Sunday Bout

THIBODAUX, La. The Nicholls State University women's soccer team will host Stephen F. Austin at 1 p.m. on Sunday at the Nicholls Soccer Complex.
 
On Friday, the Colonels (7-6, 3-3 SLC) suffered a tough loss to Northwestern State University, allowing the Demons to pick up their first Southland Conference victory of the season.
 
The Ladyjacks (11-2-1, 7-0 SLC) are on a nine-game win-streak, outscoring opponents 25-4 over that stretch, and are coming off of three straight shutouts over McNeese, Abilene Christian and Southeastern Louisiana.
 
Jess Coates leads Nicholls offensively with five assists and has four goals. Spencer Valdespino has a team-leading five goals, while Emily Werenskiold has two goals and four assists this season. The Colonels have had 16 different players score and 11 different players register an assist through 13 games, and continue to have a balanced offensive attack.
 
Zuri Prince leads SFA seven goals and six assists, while Chelsea Raymond and Hanna Barker each have six goals on the year.
 
Goalie Taylor Mosely (3-5) has registered 47 saves with 17 goals allowed for Nicholls, while Haley Golden (2-1) has a team-high .864 save percentage this season. Golden started the last three contests for the Colonels, but suffered an injury in the first half against Northwestern State on Friday. Sunday's starter has not been announced.
 
Morgan Glick (9-2-1) is the backbone of the Ladyjack defense this season, registering 54 saves while allowing just seven goals through 13 games. Glick has won Southland Conference Goalkeeper of the Week honors twice this season, including last week when SFA swept all three awards, taking Offensive Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week as well.
 
The Colonels will battle the Ladyjacks on Friday, before hosting on Houston Baptist at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 24. Sunday's match will be Senior Day.
