Kieran Cronin claimed the Singles E Draw title at FGCU
FORT MYERS, Fla. – Sophomore
Kieran Cronin went undefeated in singles play to win his draw as the Colonels grabbed a total of seven victories in the Florida Gulf Coast University Tennis Fall Invitational over the weekend at the FGCU Tennis Complex.
Cronin was one of two Colonels to win in singles play, joining
Bernard Wezeman who claimed a straight set win in the D Draw. Cronin, who played in the E Draw, won his first two matches in straight sets against Boston College's Jeffrey Melvin and St. Leo's Sam El Nehmani before outlasting Barry's Austin Cruz in a 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 title match.
Wezeman saw his singles competition come to an end in the next round with a 6-4, 6-3 loss to FGCU's Michael Beiler.
Sam Meessen,
Partha Adavelly,
Evan Karatzas,
Lukas Clemens and
Max Sinn also competed in singles, but each was eliminated in the first round.
In doubles, Adavelly and Clemens teams up for two wins in the D Draw before falling in the championship match, 8-5, to Pronnet and Echenique (Barry). Meessen and Karatzas paired up for an 8-4 win in the C Draw Consolation bracket.
