Colonels Close Out Home Slate on Saturday against UIW

THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University men's basketball team will wrap up its home schedule on Saturday against Incarnate Word, and the Colonels will honor Pedro Maciel, Jeremy Smith and Dantrell Thomas before the contest in part of Senior Day.

The game will be broadcast on ESPN 100.3 FM and KLEB 1600 AM, with a live video stream available on Colonels All-Access. Pregame coverage is scheduled to start at 3:15.

Nicholls (12-12, 9-6) stayed in contention for a bye in the Southland Conference Tournament after another solid defensive effort in its 79-60 win on Thursday over Abilene Christian. The top four teams earn a bye into the second round, and the top two teams will earn a double bye. Nicholls and Northwestern State are tied for fourth, and both are two games behind Sam Houston and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

Sophomore T.J. Carpenter led Nicholls in scoring for the second consecutive game in the win over ACU, finishing with 18 points. Carpenter, Thomas and Smith combined for 49 points, with Smith adding 17 and Thomas scoring 14.

Incarnate Word (19-6, 7-5) heads to Thibodaux in search of its 20th win of the season. The Cardinals had won three in a row in conference play before falling to McNeese on Thursday, 87-72. UIW's three-game streak came at home, defeating Corpus Christi, Houston Baptist and Abilene Christian. On the road, UIW is 5-5, including a win over UNO.

The Cardinals feature two of the league's top scorers, led by Denzel Livingston, who is averaging 20.6 points per game on the season and a conference-best 23.8 points in Southland play. Ranking sixth in the Southland in scoring is Kyle Hittle (16.9), who is also one of the SLC's best 3-point shooters, averaging 2.2 per game.

Nicholls will finish the season on the road at Houston-Baptist and Corpus Christie before playing in the Southland Conference Tournament.
