THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University women's tennis team went 2-0 on Wednesday as the Colonels defeated Oral Roberts 6-1 in conference play before knocking off Texas Pan-American 4-1 at the Colonel Tennis Complex.

Marie Aubert and Isla Brock won both of their matches in singles, while Stephanie Barnett and Emma Kranendonk were victories in their completed singles match.

Against ORU (1-5, 0-4), Nicholls took the doubles point as Barnett/Klara Skopac won 8-4 on court No. 2 and Aubert/ Kateryna Nakonechna pitched a shutout in No. 3.

In singles, Aubert, Barnett, Brock and Kranendonk all won in straight sets. Marizanne Bouwer was the only Golden Eagle to score a point, defeating Nakonechna in three sets at No. 3.

In the second match, Nicholls took the 2 and 3 matches again in doubles to take a 1-0 lead. Aubert, Nakonechna and Brock won in singles to clinch the match, giving the Colonels a sweep on the day.

Nicholls will return to the courts on Saturday, March 15 against Lamar. First serve at the Colonel Tennis Complex is scheduled for 11 a.m.
