THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls Athletics department announced Monday its radio coverage plans for the 2014 Colonel football season.
All games, both home and away, can be heard on the expanded Colonel Sports Radio Network, presented by your local Super Chevy Dealers.
"We're excited about our lineup of outlets," said
Mike Wagenheim, Nicholls assistant athletic director for communications. "We have a group of owners and station managers that are enthusiastic about Nicholls and that makes all the difference."
Each game day begins with the Colonel Pre-Game Pass on KNSU 91.5 FM. The student-operated station airs a one-hour show packed with interviews and analysis. The Colonel Pre-Game Pass hits the airwaves two-and-a-half hours before kickoff.
Then, FOX Sports Radio KJIN 1490 AM in Houma broadcasts Colonel Weekly, a 60-minute show which takes a complete look around the athletic department, including discussions with coaches, student-athletes and administrators. Colonel Weekly starts an hour-and-a-half prior to game time.
"All of us at Fox 1490 KJIN and Sunburst Media are proud to be a broadcast partner with Nicholls Athletics," said Brad Thibodaux, marketing manager for Sunburst Media, which owns KJIN. "Nicholls is an important asset to our region and any way that our radio group can help promote Colonel Athletics and the University is not only a plus for Nicholls but a service to our community."
After Colonel Weekly, it's the Colonel Countdown, beginning 30 minutes before kickoff. The Colonel Countdown airs live from the stadium with last-minute news and a look at the biggest storylines entering the game.
This year, the Colonel Sports Radio Network, presented by your local Super Chevy Dealers, is five stations strong for football. The network is anchored by the flagship station of the Colonels, ESPN 100.3 The Game, which will carry the Colonel Countdown and all games live. The station airs throughout the New Orleans metropolitan area, the Tri-Parishes and the River Region.
We are once again proud to be the flagship station for Nicholls sports," said Andrea Galjour, Coastal Broadcasting operations manager. "This promises to be an exciting year, not only for Nicholls, but for our KLRZ family, as we begin a new era as the new ESPN Radio affiliate for the New Orleans market. Our commitment to bringing the best sports programming to our communities is stronger than ever, whether it's 100.3 FM or the internet, at espn1003.com."
