Through four games, Kaitlyn Caro leads the Colonels in both assists and goals
Final Stats LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Nicholls State University women's soccer team scored early and often against the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff, cruising to an 8-0 victory on Sunday afternoon at Coleman Sports and Rec Complex.
The Colonels (2-2-0) scored three goals in the first period before pouring on an additional five goals in the second to defeat the Golden Lions (0-3-0).
Jess Coates opened up the scoring with a penalty kick goal in the 12
th minute. Just one minute later, Coates fired a pass to
Lauren O'Brien who scored the second goal of the match. In the 37
th minute,
Missy McGuire launched a long looping shot into the corner of the net for the third and final goal of the half.
In the second period the Colonels picked up right where they left off when
Kaitlyn Caro scored on a pass from
Erin Flores just six minutes into play.
Anna Gourgues scored just two minutes later off of a pass from McGuire. In the 65
th minute, Caro scored her second goal of the day off of a pass from
Spencer Valdespino. In the 71
st minute,
Kristy Tatom assisted on a
Sarah Tani goal, before
Misty Tatom scored the final goal on a penalty kick in the 74
th minute.
The Colonels played goalie
Josie Stiles through the first period and
Haley Golden for the second. Golden recorded one save on the day.
Goalie Brittany Roberts earned 10 saves while allowing eight goals for UAPB in the contest.
Through four games, Caro leads the Colonels in both assists (2) and goals scored (2).
