THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University women's volleyball team will travel to Starksville, Miss. this weekend to compete against the University of Memphis, the University of South Alabama and Mississippi State University in the 2014 Maroon Classic.
The Colonels (3-3) opened their season going 2-1 at the Southern Mississippi Volleyball Tournament before going 1-2 this past weekend at the Sawyer Camillo Memorial Volleyball Classic. The team will look to rebound against a tough Memphis squad on Friday.
The Tigers (2-4) have gone 1-2 in both tournaments this season and fell 3-1 to Southeast Missouri State in their most recent action.
Kaci Eaton has led the Colonels offensively this season with 75 kills and 53 digs.
Kalynn Egea has a team-leading 101 digs and five service aces.
Ainsley Marroccoli has a team-high, 153 assists, while
Mikayla Miller leads Nicholls with 14 blocks on the year.
Lauren Wright leads Memphis with 71 kills and Aleksandra
Petronijevic has a team-high 144 digs and 18 service aces this season. Veronica Zimmerman has a team-leading 267 assists and Alexis Wesley has 27 blocks. Nicholls will head to Starkville, Miss. and open the weekend on Friday at 11 a.m. against the University of Memphis before taking on South Alabama at 11 a.m. and Mississippi State at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
