BATON ROUGE, La. – The Nicholls State University women's soccer team will face Louisiana State University on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in Baton Rouge at LSU Soccer Stadium.
The Colonels (2-2) faced the Tigers (2-1) last season in an exhibition match won by LSU 4-1, but Tuesday's meeting marks the first time that Nicholls and LSU will square off in a regular season contest since the 2004 non-conference season. The Tigers own a 5-1 all-time lead through the six previous meetings.
Nicholls enters Tuesday's match following a decisive 8-0 road-win at Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Sunday afternoon. With 11 goals scored on the season, the Colonels feature 10 different goal scorers, led by freshman midfielder
Kaitlyn Caro who has two on the year. Caro also has a team-high, two assists.
LSU is coming off of a 1-0 loss to Rice on Sunday night after opening the season with a 2-0 victory over Troy on Aug. 22 and a 6-2 win over in-state rival Northwestern State last Friday night.
Tuesday is "Tie-Dye Tuesday" at the LSU Soccer Stadium as the first 100 fans through the gates will be give white t-shirts to tie-dye on the practice field. Those 100 fans will be provided with hangers to allow shirts to dry during the game.
