Final Stats BATON ROUGE, La. – After a short lightning delay, the Nicholls State University women's soccer team was defeated by Louisiana State University on Tuesday night by a score of 3-0.
The Colonels (2-3) fell behind early and could not and could not dig their way out as the Tigers (3-1) played keep-away most of the second half.
LSU opened up the scoring in the 7
th minute when Fernanda Pina took a pass from Clarke Summer and fired a shot passed the outstretched arms of Nicholls goalie
Taylor Mosley. Only 11 minutes later, Clarke scored on a header off of a free kick from Natalie Gomez-Junco for the second score of the game. In the 28
th minute, Pitre Christyna served a pass to Jorian Baucom who beat Mosley to the ball and finished with a header for the final score of the game.
Spencer Valdespino led the Colonels offensively with two shots (one shot on goal).
Ainsley Pratt and
Emily Werenskiold each had a shot on goal.
Clarke spearheaded the Tigers' offensive efforts with a goal and an assist.
Mosley finished the game with seven saves and three goals allowed on the defensive end for Nicholls.
Lily Alfred registered three saves on the night for LSU.
