Colonels Face Abilene Christian on the Road

ABILENE, Texas – The Nicholls State University women's soccer team will make the lengthy trip to Abilene, Texas to face Abilene Christian University on Friday at noon.
 
The Colonels (5-4, 1-1 SLC) are coming off of a 1-0 victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Sunday after a disappointing 3-2 loss to McNeese State in their conference opener.
 
The Wildcats (4-6, 1-1 SLC) fell 1-0 to Houston Baptist on Sunday, losing on a penalty kick in the 95th minute.
 
Nicholls has continued its balanced offensive attack, led by Spencer Valdespino with five goals and an assist on the season. Jess Coates has a team-high three assists and has added two goals. Through the first 10 games, 16 different Colonels have scored a goal.
 
Baylee Mitchell leads the offensive attack for ACU with five goals, while Natalie Thornberry has a team-leading three assists.
 
Goalie Taylor Mosley has commanded the net for Nicholls with 42 saves and 16 goals allowed on the season.
 
Sydney Newton and Kelsey Dombrowski have split time in the net for the Wildcats combining for 67 saves and 15 goals allowed.
 
The Colonels will travel from Abilene to San Antonio to take on the University of the Incarnate Word on Sunday at 1 p.m.
