THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University women's volleyball team will look to snap a five-match skid as they host a talented Central Arkansas squad at noon on Saturday in Stopher Gym.
The Colonels (5-12, 0-5 SLC) are coming off of a disappointing outing against New Orleans on Tuesday and will look to bounce back against one of the top teams in the Southland Conference.
The Sugar Bears (9-10, 5-2 SLC) have won seven of their previous eight matches and have only lost six of their last 29 sets.
Central Arkansas owns the all-time series against the Colonels, 15-1.
Kaci Eaton (4.00 kills per set) and
Alyse Barclay (7.64 assists per set) spearhead the Nicholls offense.
Kayla Mashburn leads the team in kills (170), and
Stephanie Tobison has 202 digs to pace the squad.
Anna Niederhauser has earned team-highs in both points (196.5) and service aces (23), while placing second in kills (164) and digs (164).
Emily Weimer has a team-leading 31 blocks.
Heather Schnars is the linchpin for the Sugar Bears, with team-highs in kills (293), service aces (47) and digs (179). Amy South has totaled 656 assists and Samantha Anderson has registered 46 blocks for Central Arkansas.
