RUSTON, La. – After nearly two weeks off, the Nicholls State University women's basketball team will return to the court to take on Louisiana Tech at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10 at the Thomas Assembly Center.
Nicholls returns to north Louisiana for its second straight game, coming off a 71-60 victory at Grambling on Nov. 29. Senior
Emani White poured in a season-high 21 points as the Colonels improved to 3-4 on the season.
White (10.3 ppg) is one of five Colonels averaging nine or more points.
Cassidy Barrios heads the team at 16.1 points and 7.6 rebounds, followed by
Hope Pawlowski at 13.4 ppg. and
Tykeria Williams (12.9).
Pawlowski and Williams are not only two of the Colonels' top scorers, but they also rank in the top 10 of the NCAA in steals per game, leading Nicholls to the No. 1 ranking in the country (14.9). Pawlowski is second with 4.7 per outing while Williams comes in at 10th at 3.7.
LA Tech brings a 4-3 record into the matchup after a heartbreaking last-second loss to Southland Conference member Stephen F. Austin. The Lady Techsters have played two teams from the SLC, including a win at McNeese.
LA Tech is led by guard Jasmine LeBlanc with 14.7 points per game. LeBlanc is shooting 53.2 percent from the field and has a team-high 8.0 rebounds.
The Lady Techsters hold a commanding 17-1 advantage in the all-time series, with their only loss coming in 2013. LA Tech took last year's matchup in Thibodaux, 58-55, after rallying late with the game's final seven points.
