THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University soccer squad takes on Sam Houston State Friday and Stephen F. Austin Sunday in its final two road matches of the regular season.
The Colonels (5-8, 2-4 SLC) dropped their most recent match to McNeese by a score of 2-0. Despite not scoring any goals, junior
Francesca Curteis generated two shots on goal as she nearly scored from way outside of the 18-yard box.
In league play, junior midfielder
Haylee Atwell has a team-high two goals while freshman midfielder
Hannah Bodron fronts the pack with two assists.
Nicholls has won its last three Sunday matches, including two SLC contests. Considering all matches, the Colonels keepers rank 34th in Division I with 6.4 saves per game.

The Bearkats (5-7, 2-4 SLC) also fell in their most recent match, dropping a 3-1 decision to Northwestern State.
Carlota-Suarez Crespo and Beryl Smith spearhead SHSU with six and five goals, respectively. In league play, Crespo is tied for eighth with 2.8 shots per game.

The Ladyjacks (7-6, 4-2 SLC) are winners of three of their last four matches, posting shutouts over McNeese, Texas A&M – Corpus Christi and UCA. Consequently, goalkeeper Allyson Smith was named the SLC Goalkeeper of the Week, converting two saves against the Sugar Bears.
During conference play, Hanna Barker ranks third with 11 points, resulting from four goals and three assists. Barker's 1.4 points per contest on the season sits atop the SLC alongside McNeese's Savannah LaRicci.
