THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University women's basketball team puts a stamp on its nonconference schedule with a trip to Iowa State for a matchup against the Cyclones. Tipoff on Thursday, Dec. 21 is scheduled for 1 p.m.

Nicholls (5-5) saw its four-game winning streak come to an end Monday with an 85-43 loss to No. 6 Baylor at Stopher Gym. The Colonels put on a good show through the first 10 minutes, trailing by only six points, before the Lady Bears pulled away for the convincing victory.

Despite the loss, sophomore Tykeria Williams had a strong performance offensively with a game-high 21 points. Williams upped her average to 14.3 points as she finished a point shy of matching her career best. She now ranks seventh in the Southland in scoring and is two spots behind junior Cassidy Barrios, who leads the team with a 15.4 average.

Nicholls took care of the basketball in the loss to Baylor, turning it over only 12 times, but struggled shooting against the taller defenders. At 28.3 percent for the night, it marked the second lowest percentage for the Colonels this season, with both games resulting in a loss.

Iowa State (5-5) features a tall lineup as well with four starters listed over six feet, and three players off the bench are at 6-3. Offensively, Bridget Carleton heads the team with 18.8 points per game, while Emily Durr and Madison Wise are averaging over 9 points.

The Cyclones suffered a four-game losing streak before winning their last two in dominating fashion. ISU blew out North Carolina Central, 99-58, and followed up with a 89-66 win over UC Riverside in its last outing.

Iowa State leads the all-time series, winning the lone matchup in 2005, 77-28.
