COLONEL STORYLINES

Despite dropping this past weekend's series to top-ranked Sam Houston State, the Colonels (18-16) have some momentum moving forward.

Junior outfielder Chet Niehaus notched multiple hits in two of three games; he has recorded multiple knocks in four of the last six. The Hammond, Louisiana, product's .396 batting average ranks in the Top 30 of Division I.

Fellow Junior outfielder Gavin Wehby recorded a hit in each game, extending his hitting streak to seven and reached base streak to 15. All three of Wehby's hits went for extra bases, highlighted by a triple that eventually plated the team's second run of the finale.

Additionally, junior infielder Kyle Knauth returned to action after missing just over a month with a hand injury.

THE OPPONENT

A team that was chosen to finish third in the American Athletic Conference, Tulane (14-18) boasts a roster with three preseason All-AAC honorees, including Hunter Williams, the team's leading hitter. Williams has racked up 14 doubles which ranks atop the league and 19th in Division I.

The Green Wave have hit 31 homers this season, placing them first in the AAC and 39th overall.

SERIES SUPERLATIVE

The Colonels swept the Green Wave in a home-and-home last season, including a 2-0 victory over a Tulane team that was ranked No. 11 in the nation.
