LAFAYETTE, La. – Junior
Haylee Atwell tallied her second goal of the season Sunday as the Nicholls State University soccer team dropped a 5-1 decision to the University of Louisiana-Lafayette at the Ragin' Cajuns Soccer Complex.
Atwell's goal came in the 83rd minute on a 20-yard chip after a lovely ball from senior
Emily Werenskiold. Freshman
Taylor Benoit totaled seven saves in her first career start.
The Ragin' Cajuns (3-4) scored two goals in the first half and added three in the second.
The Colonels (2-4) open Southland Conference play Friday at Lamar. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT.
