THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University volleyball squad hosts Mississippi Valley State University in its home opener Tuesday at Stopher Gym. First serve is set for 6:30 p.m. CT.
The Colonels (1-8) and Devilettes (1-8) squared off earlier this season on Sept. 2 at the Sawyer Camillo Memorial Volleyball Classic. Nicholls reigned victorious in a four-setter that saw junior
Brieanna Hill touch a new career high with 18 kills. Hill and senior outside hitter
Stephanie Tobison (10 kills, 18 digs) each recorded a double-double in the contest.
The Colonels have outscored MVSU 15-1 in five matches dating back to 1993.
Senior
Emily Weimer earned All-Tournament honors at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Volleyball Classic, racking up 19 kills at a .447 attacking percentage. Freshman
Imanie Williams tallied a team-high 25 kills despite starting just one match.
The Devilettes are looking to break a four-game losing skid, picking up their lone win this season against Crowley's Ridge College in straight sets. MVSU will lean heavily on All-SWAC outside hitter Kalin Barnes, who tops the league with 10.4 attacks per set.
