THIBODAUX, La. – With a six-game road stretch coming to an end, the Nicholls State University soccer team will play in its first Southland Conference match of the season Friday at Lamar followed by a Sunday duel with Southern.
Junior midfielder
Haylee Atwell tallied her second goal of the season during the Colonels 5-1 defeat to UL-Lafayette Sunday. Nicholls (2-4) is looking to snap a two-game skid as it also dropped Friday's match 1-0 to Alcorn.

Francesca Curteis return to the lineup after missing the last four matches due to injury.
Senior midfielder
Mie Elvestad has accumulated a team-high 12 shots while fellow senior
Emily Werenskiold has put 6-of-10 shots on goal.
Freshmen
Hannah Bodron and
Brittany Bunn have become a staple to the Colonels starting 11, playing all 180 minutes in the last two contests.
Lamar

The hottest team in the SLC, the Cardinals have the best record in the league at 5-2-1, including a 3-0-1 record in their last four matches. Goalkeeper Lauren Lovejoy has shut out the last four opponents, receiving SLC Goalkeeper of the Week honors three times this season.
Junior-college transfer Amelia Fullmer played all 110 minutes in Lamar's blanking of Houston. Consequently, she earned SLC Defender of the Week Tuesday.
Offensively, the Cardinals have 10 different goal scorers this season. Kelso Peskin has a team-high five assists and seven points.
