THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University volleyball team dropped its match to Houston Baptist University Saturday afternoon in three sets (25-16, 25-18, 25-14) at Stopher Gym.
Freshman outside hitter
Imanie Williams fronted the Colonels (2-13, 0-2 SLC) with eight kills. Senior outside hitter
Stephanie Tobison tallied a team-high 12 digs.

Nicholls jumped out to a 6-3 lead in the opening set before an 11-0 run for HBU backed by three Wooten aces stifled the Colonels momentum.
Similarly in the second frame, Nicholls took advantage of four early Husky errors to take a 4-1 edge. Later tied at 10 apiece, HBU scored five of the next six points to take control of the set.
The Colonels trailed by just two in the deciding third set at 11-9 before a five-point spurt from the Huskies extended the deficit to 16-9, which Nicholls was unable to surmount.
The Colonels next test will be at Sam Houston State Tuesday in a 6:30 p.m. match. This commences a three-match road stretch for Nicholls.
